This year I have read seven books, and I am almost finished with another play. I like reading books when I choose what book it is. Even though I did not get to pick the books we read in class, they were surprisingly enjoyable. For example, Lord of the Flies and Purple Hibiscus did not seem appealing when I saw the book, but after reading them, I liked it. The books that we have read this semester were more challenging than the books I read in the first semester. Having to read and annotate Purple Hibiscus challenged me more than Lord of the Flies challenged me because the language is complex. Even though this was a challenge, reading each week for one hundred and twenty minutes helped me keep a steady pace and learn to interpret. Reading more challenging books has taught me to pace my reading and pay more attention to detail.
List of books I have read:
Lord of the Flies
Purple Hibiscus
Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
Counting by 7's
The Crown
City of Bones
Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, a Life in Balance
Macbeth(play)
